You can find many different cultural influences in the legends, fairytales and proverbs related to Dedem Korkut myth. There are
remnants of the shamanism of the Central Asian steppe peoples, traces of the myths of Ancient Greece and the Old Testament as well
as of the Islamic world. For this cultural mixture the tale of Tepegöz ("One-eyed" or "Front eye") is particularly
characteristic.
On 16th December, 2007 I read the Tepegöz tale at Buchhaus Altenessen, a fine bookshop in our district. The Işık family made my reading a quite
agreeable event by offering cookies, small cakes and some tea to the audience. You can read the tale here. And here you'll find an article of the local free paper about the reading.
